Big Changes Coming

There are big changes coming to the blog.  I will try to ramp up posting in anticipation of the changes -- but I am not sure how well that will work.  I am moving to the University of Oklahoma's Department of Political Science to become the Bellmon Chair of Public Service and becoming the editor of Risk, Hazards, Crisis, and Public Policy starting in the fall of 2013.  I am considering a blog for each of these new responsibilities.

One blog would be related to the Institute of Public Affairs which I intend to relaunch as part of taking over the chair.  This blog may carry some of the material I would post here.  However, that blog will be targeted at a broader audience than just academics. I would not be able to dwell much on LaTeX, network analysis, or measurement techniques.  Instead, I would focus on discussing the major topics in public service.

The second blog would be related to the journal and would focus on supporting discussion of the articles published in the journal.  I would ideally like to see a blog post for every article to support critical feedback, replies by the authors, etc.  If I can pull it off, this would be a great supplement to the journal.

Finally, I may start a blog related to my forthcoming textbook on research methods (Public Administration Research Methods by Eller, Gerber, and Robinson).  This blog would be intended to support and expand the coverage of the textbook and would be a group product.  The blog would include references to examples of excellent uses of PA research methods -- but only those accessible to the students for our book.  One might see references to excellent uses of regression analysis or case study techniques -- but not an in-depth debate on Bayesian vs. frequentist statistics.

This still leaves me needing a place for my own research-related blog posts.  Maybe the current blog survives in this capacity.  Given my limited support of this blog, I have to wonder about the sustainability of more blogs.  Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for changes and additions to my blog presence.
